Former Captain of Nepali National Cricket Team Paras Khadka paid a visit to the construction site of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium on Monday. The stadium which is led by Dhurmus Suntali Foundation backed by crowdfunding is under construction in Shantipur, Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Khadka, accompanied by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Central member Chhumbi Lama and Member Secretary of Bagmati Province Sports Council Suryalal Bhandari were impressed by the work progress. Khadka thanked the president of foundation Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) for the effort he has put in. He also highlighted the importance of such infrastructure in Nepal.
Khadka also expressed his desire to play in the stadium before retiring. ‘This is a great effort by the foundation and people behind this project. I also have a desire to play in this ground before I retire. Every player dreams of playing in good facilities and from what I saw here, I am hopeful it will come true soon,’ he added.

Khadka was excited to see the construction work going in full flow despite the pandemic. ‘It’s great to see Foundation leaving no stone unturned in the construction process. The people have chipped in with their effort and I hope this will continue along the way. Even in such a tough time, the foundation has put in all their effort,’ he said.
The parapets of the stadium are under construction at the moment. The foundation had to halt the construction for nearly two months due to the coronavirus pandemic in April. After the resumption, more than 150 people are working on daily basis.
