Kathmandu – Kathmandu Rayzrs and Sporting Ilam de Mechi are set to face each other in the opening match of the second edition of the Nepal Super League. These two sides will take on each other on November 24 (Mangsir 8), according to the schedule revealed by organizers Nepal Sports and Event Management Pvt. Ltd.
The second edition of Nepal Super League, after many postponements, is finally set to kick off on Mangsir 8, culminating on January 6. A total of nine teams will contest in the second edition after Biratnagar City FC opted out. So, six teams that played the inaugural season and three new teams will play the second edition.
The auctions for the second edition were held last year but due to the departure of many players abroad, auctions will be held again on Ashoj 19 as announced by the organizers already. The teams will receive the players list for the auctions before Ashoj 5.
The first edition of the Nepal Super League was held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic with no fans allowed in the stadium. But the second edition will be held in a grander fashion with matches to be held in Biratnagar alongside Dasharath Stadium as well.
Kathmandu Rayzrs, Dhangadhi FC, Pokhara Thunders, Butwal Lumbini FC, Lalitpur City FC, FC Chitwan along with three new teams Jhapa FC, Sporting Ilam de Mechi and Birgunj United FC will play in the second edition.
