Kathmandu – Nepal’s fast bowler Kamal Singh Airee underwent successful surgery after sustaining injury during Nepal’s T20I triangular series match against Malaysia on Saturday.

A team of doctors led by Dr Niraj KC and Nirajan Subedi successfully performed the operation of Airee at Kalanki-based Nepal National Hospital on Sunday morning.
Airee was injured at the TU Cricket Ground on Saturday in the 18th over as Nepal was chasing a target of 224 runs for victory against Malaysia. He was injured while trying to catch a ball shot by Malaysia’s Anul Hafeez towards Chovar end. Airee’s beauty bone near the neck while diving to catch the ball.
According to Team Nepal’s physiotherapist Bikram Neupane, Airee had to undergo surgery as the bone broke into two pieces. It is said that it will take at least 6 weeks for Airee to recover after the surgery.

Airee, a youth cricketer, has been performing exceptionally well for the national team in recent days. However, he featured in the triangular series hosted by Nepal for the first time on Saturday. He was benched in the last three matches due to a minor injury. Before picking up the injury, Airee had grabbed two wickets during the match.
