Weston McKennie has signed a contract extension with Juventus until 2025. Juventus triggered a clause in his loan arrangement that allows him to make the transfer permanent.
McKennie has delighted with a string of enthusiastic shows since arrival in Turin. So far, he’s made 31 appearances in all competitions and has 7 G/A to his name.
Juventus Football Club has exercised the option right for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Weston McKennie from FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 for a consideration of €18.5 m, payable in three years,” the press release read.
The consideration may increase up to additional €6.5m on achieving given conditions over the course of the duration of the contract. Juventus and the player have signed a contract of employment until 30 June 2025.
McKennie, who was born in Texas, moved to Germany in 2016 to join Schlake’s youth program. He eventually broke into the senior squad during the 2017-2018 season. Juventus signed him on a year-long loan with an option to purchase in August2020, after a series of promising appearances.
