Kathmandu – Jawalakhel Youth Club staged a remarkable late comeback to salvage a point against Sankata Club in an enthralling encounter in an ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League. The second match of the day, held at Dasarath Stadium on Sunday ended in a 2-2 draw.
Sankata Club, battling relegation, took an early lead in the 43rd minute through Aayush Ghalan. After Nelson Yuniwo Konfor’s powerful shot struck the goalpost, Ghalan pounced on the rebound and calmly slotted the ball into the net, giving his team the advantage.
As the second half unfolded, the match grew increasingly captivating. Sankata’s Chandan Kumar Das doubled their lead in the 73rd minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Jawalakhel. Das intercepted the ball from Jawalakhel’s Chhiring Lama, swiftly maneuvered past the goalkeeper Ishwor Gurung, and confidently found the back of the net, putting Sankata in a commanding position.
However, Jawalakhel refused to surrender and displayed their resilience. In the 77th minute, Nkoto Synous Masoabi revived his team’s hopes with a brilliant header from Hisub Thapaliya’s cross from the left flank, reducing the deficit to one goal.
The momentum swung further in Jawalakhel’s favor just four minutes later. Nkoto turned provider this time, setting up the ball for Samiraj Thokar. Thokar unleashed a strike that rattled the net, restoring parity and completing Jawalakhel’s astonishing comeback.
With the match ending in a draw, Jawalakhel accumulated 33 points, firmly holding onto the third spot in the league standings, trailing behind Machhindra FC. Meanwhile, Sankata Club’s position secured the ninth spot with 23 points.
