Hosts Win Ireland Wolves’ First Outing In Kathmandu

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Ireland Wolves, the Irish A side, suffered a loss in their first outing in Nepal against Nepal’s Senior side. The Irish side were handed a six-wicket loss by Nepal in the first of two T20 matches to be played before the travelling contingent turns their focus towards the Nepal ‘A’ side.

Chasing 122 runs in 20 overs, Nepal got over the line in 16.1 overs at the loss of just four wickets. Kushal Bhurtel remained unbeaten for Nepal with his 32-ball 37 while Sundeep Jora got to a steady 35-ball 36. Dipendra Singh Airee’s 12-ball 20 run-innings remained unbeaten.

Gareth Delaney and Ben White, the two leggies combined for three wickets with the former getting two and the latter one. Thomas Mayes took the one remaining wicket.

Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat first at the TU Cricket Ground, Ireland Wolves lost all their wickets as they played the entire 20 overs for 121 runs. Opener Stephen Doheny’s 39-ball 46 remained the only noteworthy innings of the Irish side.

Nepal’s Lalit Rajbanshi, Gulshan Jha and Kushal Bhurtel took two wickets each while Karan KC and Kushal Malla picked up one wicket each.

The two sides will meet again for the second T20 on Tuesday.
