Haaland and Foden scores hattrick as City registers empathic victory over United

Agency – 22 years old duo Phil Foden and Earling Haaland score hattrick as Manchester City registers an empathic victory of 6-3 over their favorite rival Manchester United at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

With a hattrick of hattricks, Haaland sets a new record of being the first player to score a hattrick in three consecutive home matches in the history of the Premier League. Earlier, Haaland netted hattrick against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest on August 27 and September 1. City won 4-2 to Crystal Palace and trashed Nottingham Forest 6-0.  

Phil Foden put the home side into a lead in the 8th minute. Haaland then doubled the lead in 34th. Haaland scored his brace and City’s third in 37th. Foden then doubled his tally in the 44th.

City netted 4 past United before going into the break and came back to add 2 more. While Haaland completed his record-breaking hattrick in the 64th minute, Foden scored his hattrick in the 72nd.

United however scored 50% of the goal they conceded but was not enough to seal the victory over the home side. Antony scored 1 back in the 56th while Martial scored in 84th and converted the spot kick in 90+1.

With the victory, City stands 2nd in the league points table below Arsenal with 20 points from 8 matches whereas United falls 6th with 12 points from 7 matches.

City’s next fixture is scheduled with Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League group stage and United will take on Omonia as its next fixture in the Europa League group stage on October 6.
