Fulham vs Chelsea: Preview and Team News

In the Premier League, Chelsea will be looking to return to winning ways as they take on local rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Blues fell to ninth place in the table, winning just one of their last six in the league. While Fulham drew each of their last five games to stay in 18th.
Fulham was originally due on Friday night to host Chelsea, but the match was rescheduled for Saturday.

On Wednesday the Cottagers were pressed into action to play their postponed fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. Fulham have now drawn each of their last five in the league against Liverpool, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United, Southampton, and Tottenham. But since the beginning of November, they have only won once.

They are currently sitting at the table in 18th position, two points behind Brighton in 17th place. In the top flight this term, the Whites have only won one away. While last weekend they posted a 2-0 victory at Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup. Meanwhile, last weekend, Chelsea were also in FA Cup action, easily dispatching Morecambe with four straightforward goals.

In the Premier League, however, the Blues have lost two of their last three. The losses include a 3-1 home loss to Manchester City at the beginning of the month. In fact, the side of Frank Lampard won just one of their last six in the league. This saw them slip to ninth in the table, now 10 points off Manchester United’s leaders.

Fulham will again be without the services of Tom Cairney and Mario Lemina through injury. While Aleksandar Mitrovic is a doubt for the contest at Craven Cottage but could yet be involved. The Cottagers will also be unable to call upon Ruben Loftus-Cheek as the England international is ineligible against his parent club. This means that Ademola Lookman could return to the starting XI.

Chelsea will be without the suspended N’Golo Kante for Saturday’s clash. But the Blues are otherwise in excellent shape, with both Reece James and Andreas Christensen available for selection once again.

Fulham possible starting lineup: Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo; Tete, Reid, Reed, Anguissa, Robinson; Lookman, Cavaleiro

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Mendy; James, Zouma, Silva, Chilwell; Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount; Pulisic, Werner, Ziyech
