Friends overcome Sankata

Kathmandu – Friends Club overcame Sanakata Club 3-1 in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League, providing a breath of relief for the team.

Prakash Budhatoki, Torric Jebrin, and Rafiq Aminu scored one goal each for Friends, while Onguna Junior pulled one back for Sankata in a match held at the Dasarath Stadium on Wednesday.

Prakash scoring a freekick in the 4th minute put Friends in the lead early on, but Onguna Junior leveled the match soon after in the 9th minute. Onguna headed the ball home from Suraj Jeu Thakuri’s corner kick.

Torric Jebrin took advantage of Sankata’s defensive error and brought Friends into the lead once again in the 25th minute. Rafiq Aminu sealed the victory for Friends finding the back of the net in the injury time of the second half.

With this win, Friends moved up to the 10th position with 11 points from 10 matches, while Sankata slipped down to the 7th position with 15 points from 10 matches.

In the earlier match of the day, Nepal APF Football Club beat defending champion Machhindra FC 1-0.

Armand Beadoum’s goal in the 39th minute was enough for APF to take home 3 points.

The win helped APF climb to the 8th position with 14 points from 10 matches, while Machhindra slipped to the 9th position with 13 points.
