Far Western Province registered an easy 13-run victory over Province 1 in an ongoing 34th National Men’s Cricket Tournament under the 9th National Games. This is the first victory of Far Western in the tournament.
Far Western, who were elected to bat first after losing the toss at TU Cricket Ground scored 144 runs sacrificing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Basanta Khatri of Far Western contributed the highest run of 53 in 41 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Milan Bohora added 44 runs off 30 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Far Western failed to start well. Opener Raju Rizal and Dil Bohra were dismissed for zero runs. Khadak Bohora was sent off for 5 runs and Basant Karki for 4 runs.
Lokendra Chand got out for 24 runs off 11 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Narayan Joshi remained unbeaten on 2 runs.
Dipesh Kandel of Province 1 took 2 wickets in 4 overs. Captain Firdos Ansari took 3 wickets in 4 overs and Kamal Khatri took a single wicket.
Chasing the winning target of 145 runs for victory, Province 1 bagged 131 runs losing 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Skipper Firdos Ansari collected the highest 33 runs off 31 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes.
Opener Bidhan Goswami 3, Ankit Subedi 1, Sandeep Dhungana 13, Minash Thapa, Bibek Mehta 2, and Samir Karki were dismissed for 7 runs. Lower order Dipesh Kandel remained unbeaten on 34 runs off 31 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Sonu Mandal remained unbeaten on 26 runs off 14 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.
Far Western spinner Milan Bohora took 2 wickets in 4 overs. Hemant Dhami, Narendra Saud, Sher Malla, and Lokendra Chand took a wicket each.
Far Western lost to NRNA by 12 runs in the first match. Far West shared points with Bagmati in its second. It will now face APF in Mulpani on September 13.
Province 1 shared the points with Bagmati and APF due to rain in its first and second outings. Province 1 will now play against NRN on Monday.
