Ecuador leads 2-0 at the interval

Agency – Ecuador Skipper Enner Valencia scores his 36th and 37th international goal as Ecuador is leading 2-0 over the hosts Qatar in an inaugural match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Al Bayt Stadium.

The 33-years old forward headed the ball into the back of the net in the 3rd minute of the match. However, the goal was disallowed for offside.

Qatar’s custodian Al Sheeb brought Valencia down to gift Ecuador with a spot kick. Valencia then made no mistake from the spot to take Ecuador into the lead in the 16th minute.

Valencia doubled Ecuador’s lead with a perfect header in the 31st minute of the match.
