Departmental sides dominate in relay race

Pokhara – Departmental sides Tribhuvan Army Club women’s and Armed Police Force (APF) men’s won the gold medals in the 100m relays of the 9th National Games.

The Army team including Ramita Gurung, Saraswati Chaudhary, Jayrani Tharu, and Nirmala Thapa won the gold in the competition held on Wednesday on the Pokhara Stadium track by completing the relay in 49.60 seconds.

Gandaki consisting of Masina Adhikari, Anisa Bhandari, Savina Khatun Mia, and Nisha Gharti clocked 52.75 seconds to secure silver. In contrast, Bagmati with a squad of Rajita Dulal, Swagata Khaiju, Prakriti Suwal, and Luzna Amatya took 52.76 seconds and bagged bronze.

On the men’s side, the APF side consisting of Nirpratap Mahato, Ashish Choudhary, Shivraj Parki, and Chandra Bahadur Pulamimar finished the prescribed distance in 42.44 seconds and won the gold medal in the 4x100m relay race. Similarly, Army men Jeevan Chaudhary, Bivash Tharu, Yuvraj BK, and Dilli Bhandari achieved silver clocking 42.60 seconds, and Siman Pandey, Sujal Dangi, Roshan Tharu, and Tulsiram Tharu of Lumbini Province won the bronze medal with a time of 44.38 seconds.
