Pokhara – Nepal Police Club’s Chandrakala Lamgade won gold and sets a new national record in the women’s javelin throw under the athletics of the 9th National Games.
Chandrakala won gold with a throw of 47.60 meters at the Pokhara Stadium on Wednesday. She broke the record set by Army’s Laxmi Tharu three years ago. Laxmi set a record of 45.27 meters in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG).
While Army’s Laxmi Tharu settled for silver with a throw of 45.56 meters, APF’s Sima Kumari Tharu threw 45.20 meters and secured the third position.
On the men’s side, Rohit Chaudhary of Tribhuvan Army Club clinched the gold medal with a throw of 64.25 meters. APF’s Ramesh Pokharel secured the silver with 55.43 meters throw and Manoj Dagaura earned the bronze medal with 53.39 meters throw.
