Kathmandu – Deep Saun and Swechha Nembang of Nepal Army have won the mixed doubles title of the First Nepal APM Open Table Tennis Championship. The army duo defeated Santu Shrestha and Manju Suwal of Nepal Police 7-11, 9-11, 11-3, 12-10 and 11-4 during the final held at Bhainsepati Hall in Lalitpur to clinch the mixed doubles title.
Army’s Rabina Maharjan and Kushal Nyachho as well as APF’s Anita Maharjan and Rajiv Chikbanjara finished joint third in the event.
Similarly, Prabesh Basnet of New Horizon win the U-16 boys singles title. He defeated Bishal Gole of Cage Academy in the final in 3-2 sets. Prince Thapa and Adrian Shahi finished joint third.
In the U-16 girls singles event, Army’s Diya Deula clinched the title defeating her teammate Sushmita Khadka in 3-1 sets. Yongi Poudel and Anamika Kasti settled for the joint third position.
A total of 350 players are vying in eight different categories of the competition. The championship will run till Saturday.
