Kathmandu – Church Boys United Football Club maintained their position at the top of the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League with a 4-1 victory over APF Football Club.

Skipper Ananta Tamang played a crucial role in his team’s triumph, scoring two goals while Mausham Subba and Aasish Chaudhary each contributed a goal to secure the win for Church Boys on Tuesday at Dasarath Stadium. APF managed to find a consolation goal through Awas Lamichhane.

The game began with an early goal from Mausham in the third minute. Ashish Chaudhary delivered a precise cross from the left flank, which found Ranjeet Pandre. Pandre set up the ball for Mausham, who tapped the ball into an empty net, giving Church Boys the lead.

Just before halftime, Ananta extended Church Boys’ advantage. In the seventh minute of injury time, Franklin Kuite’s flick header from Manoj Rai’s long throw found Ananta, who expertly controlled the ball and placed it into the back of the net.

Church Boys continued their dominance in the second half, adding two more goals while conceding one. Ananta completed his brace and his team’s third goal in the 55th minute, replicating the same movement as his first goal. This time, Ananta headed the ball from Kuite’s flick header, following another long throw by Manoj.

APF managed to pull one back in the 83rd minute through Awas’ goal. However, Church Boys swiftly responded, with Aasish Chaudhary firing a powerful shot from just outside the box in the 89th minute, sealing the victory for his team.

With this win, Church Boys United Football Club maintained their position at the top of the league table, accumulating a total of 41 points from 23 matches. On the other hand, APF remained in 9th place with 29 points.

In the earlier match of the day, Jawalakhel Youth Club secured a 2-0 victory against Tribhuvan Army Football Club, propelling them to second place in the league standings with 37 points from 23 matches.
