Olawale’s Stoppage-Time Goal Guides Dhangadhi To Second Late Victory

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Olawale Affez's injury-time goal has guided Dhangadhi FC to a second successive win in the second edition of the Nepal Super League. Dhangadhi, who registered a late win in their first match against Birgunj United FC in the first match, came away with all three points in the second against Butwal Lumbini FC with a stoppage-time winner. Olawale beat the offside trap in the second minute of injury time and received an Ahmed Hizaji pass and guided the ball through Butwal goalkeeper Mohammadou to guide his team to the win. Earlier, both teams wasted plenty of opportunities in the ninety minutes and couldn't find the back of the net. Dhangadhi put pressure on Butwal throughout the first half but Butwal created opportunities in the sec...

Pokhara & Lalitpur Encounter Ends Goalless

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Pokhara Thunders and Lalitpur City FC have played the first goalless draw of the second edition of the Nepal Super League. The sides, who were looking for their second wins of this edition, ended the match with no goals. Lalitpur, who were, for many, the best-performing team in the first round of matches, couldn't repeat anything similar against Pokhara, who had more of the ball throughout the match. Lalitpur were struck with a blow as their striker Papa Kebe and defender Sanish Shrestha had to be taken off due to an apparent injury early in the match. Pokhara's Stephan Annor's cross in the fifth minute was headed clear by Omolaja Kareem. Pokhara struck the upright in the next minute. Franklin Talla's long-ball was met by Moses ...

Kathmandu’s Late Equalizer Denies Chitwan Their First-Ever NSL Win

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - A late equalizer from Kathmandu RayZrs has denied FC Chitwan their first-ever Nepal Super League )NSL) win. Breaking the deadlock in the 86th minute and heading towards their maiden win, Chitwan conceded in stoppage time and had to come away with just one point. Chitwan took the lead through an unfortunate own goal from Uzbeki midfielder Shokhrukh in the 86th minute. A Bimal Gharti Magar cut-back aimed for Utsab Rai inside the six-yard box was deflected towards the goal by Shokhrukh. But Kathmandu dug deep and got an equalizer. Nkengue Junior's acrobatic volley attempt from the edge of the box found its way to the top corner of Bishal Shrestha's goal to force a draw for his team. The match with two late goals, however, was far f...

Ilam Bag Their First Win In Nepal Super League

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Sporting Ilam De Mechi FC have registered their first win in the Nepal Super League (NSL). The NSL newcomers, Ilam, defeated other newcomers in Jhapa FC 1-0 to turn their frown after the defeat against Kathmandu to relief. Amath Ndaw scored the only goal of the match for Ilam. Ilam were creating chances regularly after a goalless first half. Despite failing to convert a penalty late in the game, they managed to score in the final minutes and registered the win. Jhapa squandered a huge chance in the 11th minute after their Spanish striker Jorge Perez Sanchez went around Ilam goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu off a Chhring Lama pass but failed to put the ball in the back of the net. Ilam's Ibrahim Djite's effort in the 32nd minute, after b...

Pokhara Make A Winning Start With A Win Over Chitwan

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Pokhara Thunders have made a winning start to the second edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL). Pokhara upset a strong-looking FC Chitwa 1-0 in the first match of the day to gather all three points from the match. Moses Twum scored the only goal of the match in Pokhara's win. Chitwan's Rafiq Aminu squandered a golden opportunity early on in the match off a Torric Jebrin pass. Stephan Kojo's header in the ninth minute off Pokhara marquee Ayush Ghalan cross went wide of the post. Ayush Ghalan's long-range strike in the 14th minute didn't have enough curl to go into the top corner. Ayush followed up with another long-range effort in the 16th minute that went just wide of the post. Chitwan goalkeeper and skipper Bishal Shrestha ga...

Kathmandu Kick Off Their Title Defence With A Narrow Victory

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Defending champions Kathmandu RayZrs have made a winning start to the second edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL). Bal Gopal Maharjan's side defeated Sporting ilam de Mechi FC by a slender margin of 1-0 to get three points on board at the very start of the campaign. Substitute Rajiv Lopchan's solitary goal in the second half was ample in Kathmandu's victory. However, the match was far from entertaining for the fans who were present at the Dasharath Stadium for the opening day, which included a grand opening ceremony. There weren't many chances created in the entirety of the match. Kathmandu's number ten Shokhrukh's long-range effort was saved by Ilam's marquee skipper Bikesh Kuthu who captained his opponents to the title in the first edition. Ilam'...

Yemen Hand Nepal Second Successive Defeat In Qualifying

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Hosts Nepal succumbed to Yemen in the second fixture of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Second Round. Nepal, playing their first home fixture of the round at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, lost 2-0 against Yemen. Substitutes Omar Al-Dahi and Mohammed Abdullah Al-Dahi scored a goal each for the visitors.  Nepal were equipped with the services of Ananta Tamang and Dinesh Henjan from the start, the two absentees in the 4-0 loss against UAE due to injury. It was Nepal who created the first clear chance of the match.  Forward Gillespye Jung Karki fouled the Yemen goalkeeper in his attempt to score in the third minute and squandered the opportunity. Gillespye was again at the center of attention when he failed to meet a Dinesh Henjan cross from the l...

Nepal Suffer A Convincing Loss Against UAE

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) - Nepal suffered a convincing loss against UAE in the first match of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Second Round. Nepal lost 4-0 against a fairly superior UAE side at the Al-Maktoum Stadium in Dubai. UAE’s record goalscorer and skipper Ali Mabkhout netted twice for the hosts while Khalifa Al-Hammadi and Fabio Lima also put their names on the scoresheet with a goal each. As expected, UAE were the dominant side from the very start of the match. Nepal had to su-off Laken Limbu due to an apparent ankle injury early in the match and he was replaced by Amrit Shrestha who was the culprit in the two goals Nepal conceded in the match. He was then subbed off on a yellow and was replaced by debutant Yogesh Gurung at the start of the second half. UAE went ahead in...

Annese’s New Era eyes Progress amidst Pressure to Compete

Subas Humagain, Kathmandu The Nepali men's national football team is facing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday in the second round of FIFA World Cup 2026 AFC qualifiers. Only 3 players from the team that started the second round of the World Cup qualifiers 4 years ago are currently in the Nepali team. Captain Kiran Chemjong, who has played the most games for Nepal, defender Rohit Chand, who is playing football at the highest level, and Anjan Bista, the current top scorer are the only members who have repeated the journey. Nepal's most reliable defender Ananta Tamang was supposed to be in the team, but was rested after picking up an injury just 2 days before leaving for UAE. The current team of Nepal is probably the least experienced team competing at this level. Only ...
