Boxer Punam Rawal bows out from world championship

By a Staff Reporter Kathmandu - Nepali boxer Punam Rawal was defeated by Kani Maria of Greece during the women’s 57-60 kg bout of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championship underway in Istanbul, Turkey. Rawal, who played an aggressive game since the first round, couldn’t beat her opponent who had the advantage of better height. The Greek player maintained the lead since the beginning despite a tough fight put up by Rawal. Maria was declared the winner through a unanimous decision of the judges, informed Shyam Kaji Awale, spokesperson of Nepal Boxing Association.
