According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Srinivas has been appointed to train the cricketers undergoing closed camp training at the TU Cricket Ground for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers to be held in Oman in third week of February. Srinivas arrived in Nepal on Sunday, informed CAN.
He is an A-level coach. CAN has given him high regard as fielding coach. CAN expects him to help the national team improve any drawbacks it has.
“We are grateful to him for giving us his valuable time in such a short notice,” said chief coach Pubudu Dassanayake.
CAN has already announced a 16-member squad under the captaincy of Sandeep Lamichhane for the global qualifiers.
The Nepali national team is preparing to travel to Oman on February 8 or 9.
Altogether eight teams are contesting in the event and are divided into two groups.
Nepal are drawn in Group ‘A’ along with hosts Oman, Canada, and the Philippines for the ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers.
The other group includes Bahrain, Germany, Ireland, and the UAE.
Nepal will face hosts Oman in their opening match on February 18. Two teams that reach the final from both groups will secure their place in the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia in October.
This is the first time Nepal is aiming to secure a place in the T20 World Cup after the team’s debut in 2014.
