By a Staff Reporter

Pokhara – Bhutanese Youth SC Minnesota secured a narrow margin victory over high-flying Church Boys United to set the final date with Sankata Club.

Both teams received multiple goal-scoring opportunities since the beginning. However, Church Boys United failed to capitalize on any as they suffered a 1-0 defeat in a close contest match here at Pokhara Rangashala.

Rojin Prajapati headed the ball home in injury time of the first half. Church Boys’ custodian Kishore Giri, who made numerous of saves throughout the match, failed to punch away the cross from the left flank of the box in the 45+3rd minute. Rojin then scored a free header, which was enough for the American side to win the match.

BYSC will now see Sankata Club in the finals of the 22nd edition of Aaha! Rara Pokhara Gold Cup on 7 January. The winners of the tournament will receive a cash prize of NRs. 1.2 million whereas runners-up will purse NRs. 6 Lakhs.
