Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – FC Chitwan have roped in Nepal National Team forward Bimal Gharti Magar as their iconic player.
Bimal shared the news of his agreement with Chitwan through his social media accounts. Sachin Dhakal, the owner of Chitwan FC, confirmed the signing, explaining that Bimal’s possession of an Australian visa facilitated his iconic player status.
Remarkably, Bimal had just departed for Australia on September 29, and within a mere three days, Chitwan have secured him as their iconic player. But Nepal Super League (NSL) regulations suggest that only Nepali players engaged in foreign leagues are to be signed as iconic players. However, Bimal has not made any appearance elsewhere.
Notably, NSL Director Shreyans Karki recently disclosed in a conversation with Hamro Khelkud that players like Rohit Chand, Kiran Chemjong, and Manish Dangi, who are active in international leagues, have been granted iconic player status. But Bimal Gharti Magar has now joined this list despite having no contract abroad.
However, Nepal Sports and Event Management, the NSL organizers, have not officially announced Bimal’s iconic player status, although it’s believed the participating clubs have received this information. Kiran Chemjong was the only player signed as an iconic player in the first edition of the Nepal Super League. He was signed by Dhangadhi FC.
FC Chitwan have Bishal Shrestha as their marquee for the second edition of NSL. They have already announced Friends Club duo Rafiq Aminu and Torric Jebrin as their foreign acquisitions.
