Bhutan have booked a place in the semifinal of SAFF Women’s Championshp 2024 after registering their best win over Maldives in a Group B match of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024.

Free scoring Bhutan romped on to a 13-0 win over Maldives to make it two wins in a row. At halftime, Bhutan was leading 6-0.
Deki Lhazom scored 5 goals for Bhutan, while Pema Choden and Deki Yangdon each scored 2 goals. Namgyal Dema, Tshering Lhaden, and Sonam Choden each contributed 1 goal.
With this win, Bhutan is top of the group with 7 points from 3 matches and a goal difference of +16. Nepal has 4 points from 2 matches, and Sri Lanka has 3 points from 2 matches. For Nepal to win the group, they need to beat Sri Lanka by at least 5 goals and score a total of at least 6 goals.
Bhutan earned a penalty in the third minute, but Sonam Choden’s shot was saved by Maldives’ goalkeeper Aminath Liza. However, just 2 minutes later, Sonam scored. Soon after, Pema Choden added another goal.
Nepal is set to play against Sri Lanka at 5:30 PM. In their last matches, Nepal defeated Maldives 11-0, and Bhutan won against Sri Lanka 4-1.
