Barcelona (Agency) – Spanish club Barcelona completed the signing of Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Paulinho in a £36.5m deal. The midfielder was bought by Guangzhou Evergrande from Tottenham Hotspur in 2015 at a fee of £10m.
Playing two seasons at the English Club, the 29-year old midfielder had scored 11 goals in 67 matches. After failing to impress Mauricio Pochettino, Paulinho had agreed to a move to China. In spite of the lengthy rumours of his move to Barcelona, the deal had taken much time due to the agreement in the transfer amount.
Now, Paulinho will be looking to cement his place in the Brazilian lineup for the upcoming World Cup. Barcelona are chasing another Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool. But, Liverpool remain desperate to hold Coutinho at the Merseyside club. However, Coutinho had officially informed that he was willing to leave the club.
