Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Bangladesh have registered a routine victory against Nepal in the first match of the Super Six stage in the ongoing ICC U-19 World Cup in South Africa. Bangladesh registered a five-wicket victory over Nepal in Bloemfontein to register two points in the group.
Chasing a target of a mere 170 runs, Bangladesh got over the line in 25.2 overs at the loss of just five wickets. Ariful Islam played an unbeaten innings of 59 runs off just 38 deliveries for Bangladesh. Jishan Alam also got to a half-century with 55 runs in 43 deliveries. Nepal’s Subash Bhandari took all five Bangladesh wickets that fell in the chase.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Nepal were bundled over for 169 runs in 49.5 overs.
Bishal Bikram KC, playing his first match of the tournament, top-scored for Nepal with a steady 48 off 100 deliveries. Skipper Dev Khanal made a 60-ball 35. Subash Bhandari remained unbeaten on 18 runs for Nepal. Rohanat Borson took four wickets for Bangladesh while Sheikh Jibon picked up three. Maruf Mridha, Iqbal Emon and Jishan Alam took one wicket each.
Nepal, who had already been eliminated from the tournament before playing a single match in the Super Six stage, will take on India in their final match on February 2.
