Kathmandu – Bagmati Province beat Gandaki Province by 74 runs at TU Cricket Ground to start Wai Wai U-19 National Cricket Tournament with a win.
Opening to bat, Bagmati collected 293 runs before getting all out in 48.1 overs. With a half-century innings each, Uttam Magar (87) and Yogesh Bhat (52) shared a partnership of 77 runs for the 5th wicket.
Gandaki’s spinner Nirtesh Giri bowled Openers duo Sakshyam Bastakoti and Lucky Kathayat for 18 and 12 runs respectively. Dipan Baniya and Skipper Ashok Paudel returned back to the dugout for 6 and 9 runs.
Pratik Shrestha (37), Omkar Yadav (37), Atharva Poudyal (21), Abishek Koirala (32), and Sakriya Karki* added 1 run to the tally.
Sudip Aryal and Nirtesh Giri of Gandaki claimed 3 wickets each whereas Subash Bhandari, Arjun Kumal, and Cibrin Shrestha took a wicket each.
Bagmati defended the winning target of 294 runs by stopping Gandaki at 219 runs in 45.4 overs. Gandaki’s Opener Arjun Kumal scored 98 runs off 119 deliveries which was not enough for Gandaki to meet the target.
Govind BK, Karan Pangeni, and Subash Bhandari scored 13 runs each. Sohail Kunwar (9), Deepak Dumre (3), Cibrin Shrestha (21), Sudip Aryal (2), Shishir Bhusal (2), Aprajit Paudel* (9), and Nirtesh Giri added 0 runs to the tally.
Ashok Paudel of Bagmati took 3 wickets, Sakriya Karki, Omkar Yadav, and Pratik Shrestha booked two wickets whereas Abishek Koirala claimed apiece.
