Pakistan vs Zimbabwe T20I – Azam’s 82 hands host 1-0 lead

Pakistan’s Skipper Babar Azam’s fantastic innings hands the home side first victory in Zimbabwe tour of Pakistan.

Azam’s 82 in 55 ball innings secures six wickets victory against the visitors who perhaps have exceeded the expectation in this tour so far.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Madhevere handled the middle order as he added 70 runs to the scorecard after the visiting side lost two early wickets. He scored 9 boundaries and a six to lead Zimbabwe to the decent score after their skipper Chibhabha went down early in the fifth ball of the first over, without making any mark in the game.

Opener Taylor added 20 runs to the scoresheet while SC Williams added 25 to the tally. Elton Chigumbura made quick 21 runs in 13 balls scoring two fours and a six to take Zimbabwe’s tally to 156 at the loss of six wickets as the innings ended.

Haris Rauf and Wahab Riaz bagged two wickets each for the Pakistan, while Mohammad Hasnain and Usman Qadir grabbed one each.

The hosts lost their opener Fakhar Zaman at the end of forth over, however Azam maintained his cool to lead his team to the victory. He scored 82 before he was caught at the end of 17th over. Mohammad Hafeez contributed 36 runs to their victory.

The first victory in the T20I series comes after Pakistan claimed the ODI series 2-1 to their name. The second match of the series is scheduled for November 8, 2020.
