Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was benched on Arsenal’s one of the most important matches of the season last weekend.
Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Aubameyang had breached pre match protocols and hence was benched as a punishment. Arteta has been very very strict in terms of discipline since he arrived. Disciplinary action caused Guendouzi loan move, Ozil case in the beginning of the season.
This time Aubameyang faces Arteta test and the boss says here are no assurances that the captain will be able to return to his starting lineup right away. However, he says they’ve had positive talks.
“We talked, everything has been resolved in a really positive way so we move forward,” he said, although he refused to say whether Aubameyang will face Olympiakos at home on Thursday. “No, everybody has to obviously perform at the highest level to earn their place in the team,” he said. “There is no exception there and we will try to put a really competitive team out to try to win again.”
Arsenal are in pole position to win the Europa League last 16 tie with a comfortable 3-1 win away in the first leg. Then they face West Ham who have been decent this season.
