Almutairi appointed Head Coach of Nepal

Fresh from the title triumph in Three Nations Cup, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has appointed Kuwait national Abdullah Almutairi as the head coach of Nepal Men’s National Football Team.

Abdullah, a pro license holder and AFC coaching instructor with no prior senior national team experience has been signed on an initial one year term. His appointment is part of partnership between Qatar Football Association and ANFA for development of technical aspect of the game. The Memorandum of Understanding between two associations was signed in 2018.

Abdullah arrived Nepal a couple of weeks ago and after assisting the technical team, he was recommended to the job by the technical committee ANFA. He started his coaching career in 2011 and has had experience with Kyrzystan’s U-16 team and clubs in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Abdullah, speaking on the announcement program, spoke high of the Nepalese teams and their potential in SAFF region. He emphasized on talent of Nepalese players and discussed about the team’s chances for SAFF Championship title and AFC Asian Cup qualification.

Abdullah said he was happy and takes the job as a challenge. “I am delighted to work in Nepal where the people are really kind. I take this job as a challenge and with our game, I hope to make every Nepali supporters happy,” said Abdullah.

Coach Abdullah said he has studied the players and the country well before taking up the job. “I watched the team play in the Three Nations Cup. We have a good pool of players and hopefully we can celebrate on more occasions like being crowned the Three Nations Cup Champions,” said the coach.
