Luis Suarez scored 2 goals in 5 minutes but a late goal from Ferreyra drew Celta Vigo level against Atletico Madrid. Ferreyra was the debutant for Celta in the match and had the final say.
Atletico fell behind in the 13th minute as Santi Mina scored from close range. A beautifully worked cross from Mallo and Mina put it into the box as he wasn’t marked by anybody. It was Luis Suarez’s tap in from Marcos Llorente cross to make the score level. Celta were trying too hard to get the goal but couldn’t and the match remained with Atletico.
Luis Suarez’s brilliance continued as he scored another in the 50th minute. He scored in a similar fashion but this time from Renan Lodi ball. It was his 7th goal in 4 matches in the league and is now in La Liga’s top goalscorer charts with 16 goals. Celta’s spark remained only until first half as they couldn’t equalize. But in the 89th-minute debutant substitute, Ferreyra scored for Celta to draw the match level. He had been on the pitch only for 13 minutes.
Celta doesn’t have a win this year and have drawn their last three games, are 10th on 26 points. Meanwhile, Atletico who were without 6 regular players lost points for the first time since losing to Real Madrid on Dec. 12. They now have 51 from 20 games and lead second-placed Barcelona and champions Real, who are third, by eight points with a match in hand on both teams.
