Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Tribhuwan Army FC and Nepal APF Club have booked their place in the 34th National Men’s Volleyball Championship with wins on Monday.
In their respective matches held in Birendranagar, Surkhet, Army defeated Gandaki Province while APF got better of Nepal Police Club.
Army booked their place in the final four with three successive wins and with a game in hand. Army won the match in straight sets with scorelines of 31-29, 25-21 and 25-21. Similarly, in the second match of the day, APF defeated Police 3-1 to make it into the semifinals with a game in hand themselves.
APF won the first set 25-17, winning five straight points at the end when the scoreline stood at 17-20. The second set was comparatively straightforward for APF as they won it 25-15.
Police came back into the encounter with a 25-22 win in the third set. But APF held their ground and won the fourth set 25-20 to win the match.
Similarly, in the first two matches of the day, Sudurpaschim defeated Karnali 3-1 with scorelines of 25-21, 21-25, 25-18 and 25-23 while Lumbini defeated Koshi 3-1 as well. Lumbini won the match 25-15, 21.25, 25-13 and 25-21.
Police, APF, Bagmati and Koshi make up Group A. Army, Gandaki, Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Madhesh find themselves in Group B. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
APF, undefeated in Group A, have collected nine points from three matches. Police, who suffered their first defeat, have six points from three games. While Lumbini also have six points, Koshi have three and Bagmati has no points.
Undefeated Army have reached nine points from three games in Group B. Gandaki, who suffered their first defeat, have six points from three matches. Sudurpaschim have amassed four points, Karnali have three points while Madhesh stand on one point so far.
