Surkhet (HamroKhelkud) – The four semifinalists of the 34th National Men’s Volleyball Championship have been finalized, with the final group matches held in Birendranagar today.
With wins on Tuesday in their respective final group matches, defending champions Nepal APF Club and Tribhuwan Army Club have confirmed top spots in their groups.
In a Group A encounter, APF defeated Bagmati Province and Army defeated Madhesh Province in straight sets to win their respective groups. Both of these teams had already booked their spots in the final four before coming onto the court today.
In the first match of the day, APF defeated Bagmati 25-7, 25-18 and 25-13. In the second match, Army got better of Madhesh with scorelines of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-14. APF and Army had rested their regular players in today’s matches.
Bagmati finished the tournament as the only team to lose all three matches.
Nepal Police Club defeated Koshi Province 25-15, 25-19 and 25-11 in the third match to book their place in the semifinals as the runners-up in Group A. In Group B, Gandaki confirmed second place and booked their place in the final four with a 25-21, 25-21 and 25-21 win.
Gandaki won three matches out of four and finished on nine points. Army, with a cent percent record, finished on 12 points. In the other group, APF finished on 12 points while Police finished second on nine points.
APF will take on Gandaki in tomorrow’s semifinals while Army will take on Police on the same day. The final of the tournament will take place on January 11.
