APF hold Three Star to open account in ongoing A Division League

Kathmandu – Nepal APF Football Club played a goalless draw against Ruslan Three Star Club to collect their first point in the ongoing Qatar Airways Martyrs Memorial A Division League on Sunday.

APF managed to gain their first point in the league in their fourth attempt. Prior to this match, APF had lost all three matches. APF were beaten 3-2 by Brigade Boys in their first match followed by a 1-0 defeat against Chyasal and a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Satdobato.

During Sunday’s match held at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripurehswar, Three Star missed a chance to take the lead in the 29th minute when a header from Rafael Rimgago in a pass from Hemant Thapa Magar skied off the bar. A minute later at the other end, Three Star’s keeper Preso scrambled to save Mani Lama’s free kick to deny APF from taking the lead.

Ananta Tamang also missed a chance to score in the first half injury time. Likewise, a header by Ashish Lama in the 81st minute went inches wide from the post. Three Star failed to make any good attempt to score in the second half.

This was the second time Three Star shared the spoils in the ongoing league. Prior to this match, Three Star were held to a 1-1 draw by Friends Club while they registered a 3-0 win over Chyasal. They were beaten 1-0 by Satdobato.

With this draw, Three Star have five points from four matches and are placed in the fifth position in the points table. Although Three Star have equal five points to that of Sankata, Police and NRT, they are ahead due to goal difference.

Meanwhile, APF are second from bottom with Sunday’s draw. Jawlakhel lie on the rock bottom without any point.
