Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Nepal Women’s National Team goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba is set to continue with Indian Women’s League side Sethu FC. She has extended her stay with the Indian outfit.
Anjila was with Sethu in their run up to the semifinal stage in the previous league season. Sethu lost against Kickstart FC in the semifinals and bowed out of the title race. Nepal internationals Saru Limbu and Renuka Nagarkote were with Kickstart last season.
Talking to HamroKhelkud, Anjila expressed her happiness for extending her stay with Sethu. It is a great pleasure to play two seasons in a row with Sethu”, said Anjila. “Hopefully, we will be able to get better last season’s results this time around.”
The new IWL season will kick off in December and conclude in March. Although eight teams were selected to play this season, only seven have confirmed their place. Eastern Sporting Union have already faced relegation after not completing the paperwork. A team will play a total of 12 matches in the league with ESU’s relegation.
After Anjila’s extension in India, a few other Nepali players are also expected to get their contracts in India. Six Nepali players played in the IWL last time around. Sabitra Bhandari, Saru Limbu, Renuka Nagarkote, Anita Basnet and Rekha Poudel played in the previous season. Deepa Shahi had also signed for Lord’s FA but couldn’t play due to age barrier.
