Motion To Dismiss ANFA President Nembang Rejected

Makwanpur (HamroKhelkud) – The proposal to dismiss President Pankaj Bikram Nembang of the All Nepal Association (ANFA) has been rejected. In the special general meeting held in Hetauda on Thursday, 53 votes were cast, with 53 opposing the motion of no confidence and one vote being invalid. Not a single vote was in favor of the motion for dismissal.

Out of the 86 eligible voters, 34 chose not to participate in the voting process. To pass a no-confidence motion against the president, a two-thirds majority vote is required. The special general meeting, focusing solely on the dismissal of ANFA President Nembang, took place amidst tight security at the Royal Party Palace in Hetauda.

The meeting, initially scheduled for 8 AM, commenced almost four hours later. President Nembang, elected on Asar 6, 2079, had to face a motion of no confidence less than a year and a half after his election.

Due to the motion of no confidence filed against Nembang, he couldn’t preside the assembly, and senior vice president Bir Bahadur Khadka declined to preside as well, resulting in no opening session of the assembly. On Ashoj 17th, the ANFA working committee meeting determined to include the decision concerning Nembang’s dismissal as the sole item on the agenda for the special general meeting.

On Bhadra 25, 49 member organizations of ANFA submitted a resolution demanding the removal of President Nembang and General Secretary Kiran Rai. The meeting also resolved not to present the proposal for General Secretary Rai’s dismissal to the General Meeting, as the working committee holds the authority to decide solely on the Chairman’s proposal regarding General Secretary dismissal.
