Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – All-Rounder Indu Barma has been named the captain of the Nepali Women’s National Cricket Team. This announcement came as part of the squad announcement for the upcoming Hong Kong tour on Thursday.
Bindu Rawal, the left-handed batter, has been appointed the vice-captain, while Rubina, the former team captain, continues as a team member. Kanchan Shrestha, Somu Bista, and Soni Pakhrin have received their first call-ups.
CAN Secretary Paras Khadka told with HamroKhelkud that Indu has been entrusted with the captaincy for this tournament. “We have chosen Indu as the captain for the first time in this tournament. This decision was made during the board meeting based on the recommendations from the selection committee and the manager. While Rubina is still a valuable player, capable of contributing in her role, we have opted for a change in leadership,” stated Khadka.
He emphasized the need to adopt a long-term vision, stating, “We must consider the bigger picture. Women’s cricket holds great potential, and we believe Indu is the right choice for this tournament.”
Nepal will participate in a Quadrangular T20 series in Hong Kong, featuring Tanzania, Japan, and Hong Kong. The fixtures include matches against Tanzania on Kartik 29, Hong Kong on Kartik 30, and Japan on Mangsir 2. The tournament’s final and the third-place match are scheduled for Mangsir 3.
