Two players from Nepal National Football Team preparing for friendly series against Bangladesh have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday. The total number of players tested positive reaches 7 after 5 players were tested on the first day.
The team started preparing for the series last week with 5 players testing positive on the first day. 4 players were absent from training early on while one player was sent into isolation after the result came in late on the first day.
All the players and officials who were supposed to travel to Bangladesh later this week were tested on Tuesday and 2 players tested positive. Two media persons who were scheduled to travel with the team also tested positive. The players have been sent to isolation facilities along with the previous five.
A total of 34 players were called in the preliminary squad for the friendly series but with 7 players out of contention and few others struggling for fitness, the series is put into serious doubt. The addition of two players who trained with the team till Tuesday has increased fear within the squad.
The ANFA and BFF are yet to make any announcement regarding any alteration in the schedule of the matches.
