Tribhuwan Army wins on count back

Kathmandu : Tribhuwan Army Officers Golf Club won the title of club championship of Nepal Tourism Cup Golf Tournament on the count back system here at Gokarna Golf Club.

Tribhuwan Army represented by South Asian Games double gold medalist Subash Tamang and MAj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi came over two-shot overnight deficit over Gokarna Golf Club to win the tile on count back after being tied with team total of 12-over 300. Subash carded two-under 70 today whereas Maj. Nischaya scored five-over 77.

Gokarna Golf Club’s Sadbhav Acharya carded even-par 72 and Tashi Tshiring’s five-over 77 for a total of 12-over 300 were forced to second place on a count back format. Himalayan Golf Course, Pokhara was third with the score of 49-over 337, Dharan Golf Club was fourth with the score of 52-over 340 defeating Royal Nepal Golf Club by one-stroke.

Subash Tamang also had individual best score with one-under 143, Sadbhav Acharya second best with five-over 149 and Tashi Tshiring seven-over 151.

The team club championship was played over 36-holes and corporate golf tournament will be played tomorrow; 92 players are set to tee off on a stableford format with 3/4 handicap.

The event organized by Nepal Golf Association is supported by Nepal Tourism Board, National Sports Council, Gokarna Forest Resort, Gorkha Brewery, Samsung, KELME, and Everest Beverage Processing.
