Kathmandu – Nepal suffered back-to-back defeats in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers being held in Gazprom Sports Complex, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Nepal suffered a humiliating 11-1 defeat against Tajikistan in their second match of the qualifiers on Monday. Although Nepal took the lead in the first half and held on to a draw, it could not stop a barrage of goals from a much-improved Tajikistan team in the second half.
Aadil Hamid scored the lone goal for Nepal.
Nepal had lost the first match 5-1 against Uzbekistan. With the second consecutive defeat, Nepal have crashed out of the qualifiers.
Nepal will now play their third and final match against Afghanistan in Group B of the Central and South Zone under the qualifiers on Tuesday.
Group A includes hosts Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Iran and the Maldives. The top two teams from each group will get a chance to feature in the AFC Fustal Asian Cup to be held in Kuwait later in 2022.
