Sri Lanka and Maldives added its first point in the ongoing SAFF U20 Championship. The first match of the day concluded with a 1-1 draw.
Sri Lanka bagged its first point in its last match of the championship in Kalinga Stadium at Bhubaneswar. On the other hand, Maldives earned its first point from three matches.
Maldives took the initial lead but failed to hold the lead. Following a tie, both Sri Lanka and Maldives found its way out to the championship. Maldives will play against India in its final round robin match. Even if Maldives defeats India, it will not be able to qualify for the finals.
Favorite rivals Nepal and India are set to face each other in the second match of the day. Nepal aims to book its spot in the final by defeating India whereas India wants to win the match to increase its probability to play the finals. The match will kick off at 7:15 PM NST.
Bangladesh is leading the competition points table with 9 points from three matches. Nepal stands second with 6 points from two matches whereas India is in third position with a single win from two matches.
