Skipper Rohit’s Ton Guides Nepal To A Successful Chase Against West Indies ‘A’

Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) – Skipper Rohit Kumar Paudel’s century has guided Nepal to a famous victory in the first of five T20s against the West Indies ‘A’ side. Nepal registered a four-wicket triumph thanks to the skipper who stepped up to get to three figures.

Rohit reached 112 runs off 54 deliveries with ten fours and six sixes that eclipsed Nepal to successfully chase a 205-run target set by the Caribbean side. 

Dipendra Singh Airee was the second-highest scorer for the home side with just 24 from 18 deliveries. Similarly, opener Kushal Bhurtel and his namesake Kushal Malla chipped in with 16 runs each. 

Gulshan Jha, who finished the match with two boundaries in the final over, finished unbeaten on nine runs while Pratis GC remained unbeaten at the other end on five. Opener Anil Shah and Bibek Yadav added five and seven runs each.

Matthew Forde and Obed McCoy took two wickets each for the West Indies while Keemo Paul had one scalp of his own.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, the visiting side, thanks to skipper Roston Chase’s 74 off 46, put 204 runs on board at the loss of five wickets. Opener Alick Athanaze scored a quickfire 25-ball 47 with five fours and three sixes while Keacy Carty scored 38 off 26.

Kadeem Alleyne remained unbeaten on 14 off 15 with Andre Fletcher adding 13 runs before being run out. Opener Johnson Charles went back to the pavilion for a duck. Keemo Paul remained not out on one.

Kamal Singh Airee, alongside Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Paudel and Abinash Bohora took one wicket each for Nepal.

The second encounter of the series will be played on Sunday. The West Indies’ deputy side is touring Nepal for five T20s in what is the hosts’ final home series before the ICC T20 World Cup in five weeks.
