Salah and Mane give Klopp some relief

Two second-half goals from Salah and Mane gave Liverpool an emphatic away win against Leipzig in Round of 16 clash.

The match was played at Budapest as concerns arose regarding Corona Virus restrictions. Liverpool were the better side in the first half but couldn’t score. This competition has come to feel like their last shot at glory with their Premier League title defense having crumbled.

At the beginning of the second half, there was a big moment when Alisson aced off his line to thwart Christopher Nkunku in a one-on-one contest. It would prove to be a turning point because Liverpool had struck twice within 10 minutes or so. All the action came in second half as newly signed hyped defender Upamecano’s wrongly timed challenge made Mane to run through and put Liverpool 2-0 up. Just before this Upamecano had made another mistake to give Liverpool 1-0 lead.

Salah snuck behind the defence and sot it pass the keeper. Leipzig had an opportunity to pull a late goal back, but when he went through on Alisson’s goal, Hwang Hee-Chan put just wide. Liverpool had survived a few scares at2-0, with Angeliño shooting wildly twice. Klopp was able to sense a revival of hope.
