Nepal Touchdown In Myanmar For Two International Friendlies

Nepal Men’s National Football Team have touched down in Myanmar ahead of the two friendlies scheduled against the home side later this week. The team reached Yangon International Airport on Tuesday afternoon and was welcomed by the Myanmar Football Federation officials upon arrival.

The team is scheduled to play two friendlies against the home side for the preparations ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers first-round playoffs against Laos next month.

The team was bid farewell by ANFA on Monday afternoon at ANFA Complex before flying to Yangon. The matches will be played on September 8 and 11 at the Thuwanna Stadium in the Burmese capital. The friendlies are played as a part of the FIFA international calendar and will affect the rankings.

Nepal head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese had already announced his final squad for the friendlies a few days ago which includes seven new names. Anjan Rai from Nepal Police Club, Chhiring Lama and Hisubh Thapaliya from Jawalakhel Youth Club, Ashish Gurung from Manang Marshyangdi Club, Machhindra’s Utsab Rai, and Tribhuvan Army Football Club’s forward duo Gillespye Jung Karki and Dinesh Henjan have made it into the squad for the very first time.

Goalkeeper Abishek Baral and midfielder Kristish Ratna Chhunju have also made returns to the national team squad. Both are also awaiting their debuts in the national colours.
