Madrid bound Mbappe’s PSG future hangs in balance

By a staff reporter

Kylian Mbappé is under contract with PSG until the end of the 2021-22 season. In the midst of rising speculation that he will not extend his deal beyond 2022 with the Ligue 1 champions, the French international has been closely linked with a transfer to Real Madrid next summer.

With the former AS Monaco striker earlier hinting at his determination to play for Real Madrid, PSG is likely to be resigned to losing Mbappe. But Real Madrid isn’t the only club behind Mbappe.

Liverpool boss also has high praise for the French. Recently, rumors suggested that Liverpool had the funds to sign the Mbappe in 2019, but Jurgen Klopp, who visited the player’s family members two years earlier in an attempt to encourage him to sign with Liverpool, said they had “absolutely no hope” of signing the player. “It is difficult to buy this quality of player,” Klopp said earlier that month.

This season, Mbappe is unlikely to go anywhere and the consequence of the coronavirus pandemic ensures that most clubs may not be able to pay their price tag.

However, the Sporting Director of Paris Saint-Germain, Leonardo is hopeful of keeping both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the club on a long-term basis. “Nothing tells us that they’re going to leave this season,” Leonardo told the Journal du Dimanche in June 2020.

“Both of them already have two years left on their terms and we’re dreaming about what we should do with them next. Mbappe is the future of PSG. This is what everyone wants”, he added.

We’ll have to until he refuses an improved PSG contract to see if he will really leave the club. But it’s imminent that he will leave PSG.
