Nepal National Cricket team skipper Sandeep Lamichhane has been included in the draft of the Australian Big Bash League (BBL) season 2022/23.
Lamichhane is only the player from Nepal to be included in the draft. Similarly, Namibian David Wiese, Scottish Michael Jones and Mark Watt, Vriitya Aravind from UAE, America’s Ali Khan, Unmukt Chand, and Harmeet Singh are the players from other associate countries included in the draft. Brendan Glover, Fred Klaassen, Roelof Van Der Merwe, and Paul Van Meerkeren from the Netherlands are drafted as well.
The BBL draft will take place in Sydney on August 28. A total of 169 players from 13 countries have registered their names in the draft. Nepali skipper Lamichhane had played four seasons of BLL. He represented Melbourne Stars for the first two seasons and moved to Hobart Hurricane to play in the previous two seasons. When in Hobart Hurricane, he took 14 wickets in 14 matches in the 2021/22 season. Likewise, he took 8 wickets in 8 matches in the 2020/21 season.
Lamichhane debuted in BBL in 2018 from Melbourne Stars. He took 11 wickets in 8 matches in his first season. Moreover, he took 15 wickets in 13 matches in the 2019/20 season of BBL.
Lamichhane has bowled 159.5 overs and taken a total of 48 wickets in the BBL so far.
