Kathmandu – Karnali Province got off to a winning start to the U-19 National Women’s Cricket Championship underway in Dhangadhi.
Karnali defeated Sudur Paschim Province by 34 runs in their opening match on Sunday.
Opting to bat first at Dhangadhi’s Fapla Cricket Ground on Sunday, Karnali Province scored 93 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing 5 wickets. Opener Kiran Kumari Kunwar topscored 25 runs off 50 balls for Karnali. Trishna Bishwakarma contributed 12 runs for the team.
Likewise, Shova Shahi and Anjali Thapa were run out for 9 and 6 runs respectively.
Sabitra Dhami of Sudur Paschim took 3 wickets in her four-over spell giving away 15 runs.
Chasing a target of 94 runs for victory, the host team were all out in 13.4 overs with 59 runs on board. None of the batswoman of Sudur Paschim scored in double digits.
Opener Seema Kunwar scored 5 runs, Anu Kathayat contributed 6 while Manisha Chaudhary and Pabitra Dhami scored 9 and 6 run respectively.
Anjali Thapa took the maximum 3 wickets for Karnali. Srimi Singh Tharu, Dikshya Puri and Trishna Bishwakarma took two wickets each.
