India U20 National team trashed Nepal U20 National team scoring more than half a dozen goals in ongoing SAFF U20 Champions in Kalinga Stadium at Bhubaneswar. With the 8-0 win, defending champions and hosts India reaches a step closer to the finals.

India went into the break with a goal and came back to add seven more. Gurkirat Singh, Himanshu Jangra, Tankadhar Bag and Shubho Paul scored apiece whereas Parthib Sundar Gongai and Taison Singh scored a brace to give India an easy victory.
India took the lead in the 33rd minute of the match. Taison Singh headed the ball home to give the hosts a lead. Nepal’s goalie Ishwor Gurung failed to grab the cross of Maheson Singh Tongbram and punched the ball straight in front of Taison which he netted easily.
India doubled its lead in the 50th minute of the match through Parthib Sundar Gongoi. Vibin Mohanan’s volley attempt slipped into Gongoi which he smashed into the post. After a couple of minutes, Himanshu Jangra’s through ball was chipped in by Gongoi to give hosts a 3 goals lead.
Taison Singh scored fourth goal for the hosts in the 64th minute. Likewise, in the 71st minute of the match, Gongoi was fouled inside the box by Ayush Shrestha and India earned a spot kick which was easily converted by Himanshu Jangra.
Tankadhar Bag tapped in the cross of Vibin Mohanan in the 78th minute. Gurkirat dribbled past Nepali defenders to score his first and India’s 7th in 90th minute. Shubho Paul tapped in to add icing on the cake on the injury time.
With the win India has climbed to second of the competitions points table and Nepal has slipped to third. Bangladesh is leading the points table with 9 points from three matches. India is in second with two wins and a loss. India lost to Bangladesh in its first outing. collecting 1 point each Sri Lanka and Maldives are sure not to qualify for the finals. Nepal must win its final match of the round robin against strong side Bangladesh to play in the finals.
