Kathmandu – Nepal Police Club and Himalayan Sherpa Club shared the spoils during their Qatar Airways A Division League match on Wednesday.

Police fought back from a goal down to settle for a 1-1 draw in the match held at the Dasharath Stadium.

Himalayan Sherpa Club’s Captain Bishwas Shrestha scored an early goal to give a head-start to the club within 53 seconds. It was the fastest goal in the ongoing league.

Shrestha capitalized on a smart move created in tandem with Ulrich Siwe at the middle of the ground and scored from the penalty box. Shrestha’s shot ricocheted off Police goalkeeper Shatrughan Chaudhary and went into the net.

Police missed a good chance to equalize in the 46th minute after a powerful strike from the penalty box by Anjan Rai skied off the post.

However, Suman Lama managed to score an equalizer in the 60th minute to salvage a draw for Police. Lama scored the goal while Himalayan Sherpa’s defender Siwe was receiving treatment outside the field due to an injury.

Lama, who was unmarked in the danger zone, scored from six yards after receiving a pass from Ravi Paswan.

This is the second draw of Himalayan Sherpa. Prior to this, the club had played a 1-1 draw against Sankata while they had lost 1-0 to Manang Marshyangdi. This is also the second time unbeaten Police played a draw in the ongoing league. The departmental team had played a 1-1 draw with Army in their first match and had beaten Jawlakhel 1-0 in their second match. Following the latest draw, Police have garnered five points from three matches. On the other hand, Himalayan Sherpa have managed to get 2 points from three matches.
