England trashed India by 10 wickets to meet Pakistan in the finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
India, who started with the bat after losing the toss at Adelaide Oval collected 168 runs in the scheduled 20 overs losing 6 wickets. A two-half-century inning each from Hardik Pandya (63) and Virat Kohli (50) was not enough for India to qualify for the finals.
With Opener KL Rahul collecting 5 runs off 5 deliveries with a four, Skipper Rohit Sharma bagged 57 runs before getting caught by Sam Curran off Chris Jordan’s delivery in the 8.5 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant contributed 14 and 6 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin remained not out for 0. England’s Chris Jordan booked 3 wickets in his name whereas Chris Woaks and Adil Rashid took a wicket each.
A full-inning partnership between opener duo Jos Buttler and Alex Hales was enough for England to snatch the match from India. A 170 runs partnership between Jos and Alex limited India only to the semifinals of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
With 9 fours and 3 six, Jos collected 80 runs off 49 deliveries whereas Alex smashed 4 fours and 7 sixers off 47 balls to contribute 86 runs to the tally.
