Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri scored one each to give Chelsea win vs Atletico Madrid. Chelsea are now through to the quarterfinals of the competition after winning the tie 3-1 in aggregate.
Chelsea were the better side the whole game and didn’t take long to take the lead. The new trio Havertz, Werner and Ziyech combined for a beautifully worked goal in the 34th minute. Havertz played a beautiful through ball to Werner to took the opportunity to cut in to the box and assist Ziyech who beautifull put it past Oblak.
Atletico who are on top of La Liga couldn’t penetrate the rigid Chelsea defence; Kante once again played one of the best matches of his career. Early in the second half, Oblak was down smartly to keep out Werner’s low shot, and he had more work to do to deny Ziyech a second. Atletico were down to 10 men in the 82nd minute after Savic elbowing Rudiger.
Substitute Palmieri made it 2-0 and put the game to bed in the 94th minute. Goal came soon after Edouard Mendy had saved Joo Félix’s point-blank added-time attempt.
