Kathmandu – Defending champions Machhindra Football Club climbed to the second position in the Qatar Airways Martyrs Memorial A Division League with an easy win over Jawlakhel Youth Club (JYC) on Wednesday.
Although Machhindra FC have equal points to that of top-placed Satdobato Youth Club, they are second on goal difference after securing a 2-0 win over JYC.
During Wednesday’s game, Machhindra took the lead in the 14th minute with an own goal from Simanta Thapa. Thapa sent a pass from Abhishek Rijal in his own post to the disappointment of his club.
Ranjit Dhimal doubled Machhindra’s lead in the 21st minute with a goal from a free kick. Machhindra had earned a free kick after a foul by JYC player.
In the second half, Jawlakhel displayed an improved performance but still lost the match due to poor finishing. Machhindra did not play an attacking game in the second half.
