Brazil beat Uruguay, Argentina maintain unbeaten run

Brazil defeated Uruguay 2-0 to retain their 100% record in the 2022 Qatar South American World Cup qualifiers while Argentina won at peru to maintain unbeaten record.

Arthur and Richarlison’s first-half goals lifted a Neymar-less Brazil to a fourth straight victory to launch their qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup.

After 34 minutes, Arthur got the first when his shot was cruelly deflected from outside the box past Uruguayan keeper Martin Campana. Near to half time, Richarlison glanced a header into the net from a short corner to make it 2-0 at the halftime. Uruguay, who were without Luis Suarez after the positive coronavirus test of the striker, struck the crossbar twice in the first half.

Uruguay suffered another hit when in the 71st minute Edinson Cavani was sent off for a mistimed tackle against Richarlison. With 14 minutes left, Uruguay had a goal disallowed as the five-time world champions made it four wins out of four and stretched their undefeated streak to 19 years against Uruguay.

In Lima, Argentina led the game after Giovani Lo Celso’s pass was utilized by Nicolas Gonzalez as he scored in the 17th minute. In 28th minute, Lautaro Martinez scored to double the lead.

After completion of 4th round, Brazil leads the table with 12 points from 4 matches. Argentina have 10 points in 4 matches.
